Authorities raided a factory and warehouse in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, on Thursday (November 13) after reports surfaced of unlicensed and unhygienic production of mango drinks, orange drinks, litchi drinks, Islly, water, lassi, and chocolates at Mallik Food and Beverage. During the operation, 460 cartons of unauthorized products were seized and destroyed.
The raid, led by Executive Magistrate Monawwar Hossain, took place from noon to evening in the South Nimaikashari area of Siddhirganj. The factory was sealed, and a mobile court sentenced one person to one month’s rigorous imprisonment. The convict, Mannan (41), is the son of Abdul Haq from Mizmizi area in Siddhirganj. The operation was supported by the Narayanganj District Safe Food Officer Suraiya Saidun Nahar and two police teams.
Executive Magistrate Monawwar Hossain said the factory was producing and distributing various unauthorized beverages and chocolates, including products labeled with other companies’ names. The operation found the factory operating in unsanitary conditions with unapproved colors, flavors, and additives.
During the raid, the authorities seized and destroyed around 460 cartons of unlicensed products. The factory was sealed, and the owner and manager, who were absent during the operation, have been instructed to face legal proceedings. Mannan was sentenced for non-cooperation. Authorities warned that such inspections and actions would continue in the future to ensure public safety.
