Two businesses in Moulvibazar have been fined a total of Tk 3 lakh for producing and storing food in unhygienic conditions.
On Wednesday (November 12), under the initiative of the Moulvibazar district administration, Executive Magistrate Ifraheem Iqbal Chowdhury, with the support of safe food officers and police personnel, conducted mobile court operations in various locations including Kheya Ghat in Rajnagar Upazila and Sreemangal Road in the Sadar Upazila.
During the mobile court proceedings, Swagat Sweets in Kheya Ghat market was fined Tk 1.5 lakh under the Safe Food Act for multiple violations, including producing and storing food in unhygienic conditions, mixing color with food products, operating without proper licenses, packaged products lacking production and expiry dates, and workers not wearing proper uniforms.
Similarly, Kaya Ice Cream Factory on Sreemangal Road in the Sadar Upazila was fined Tk 1.5 lakh for mixing prohibited substances with ice cream and maintaining unhygienic production environments. The total fine imposed on the two establishments amounts to Tk 3 lakh, which has been collected.
Executive Magistrate Ifraheem Iqbal Chowdhury said such initiatives by the district administration will continue to ensure food safety and public health.
