The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) fined a shop Tk 15,000 on Sunday for selling imported cosmetics and olive oil without obtaining the required clearance from the standards agency.
A mobile court conducted by the BSTI divisional office in Chattogram carried out the drive at Swapno Super Shop in Mahajanpara of Khagrachhari district.
The shop was fined under the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Act, 2018, for selling the products without the necessary BSTI clearance.
The mobile court was led by Durjoy Goswami, assistant commissioner and executive magistrate of Khagrachhari district administration.
Saied Ahmed Talukder, inspector (metrology), and Sandipan Bhattacharyya, field officer (CM) of the BSTI divisional office in Chattogram, served as prosecutors during the operation.
BSTI said such mobile court drives and market monitoring activities would continue in the public interest.
