The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has fined three businesses in Ashulia’s Jamgora area for allegedly preparing fuchka (a popular street snack) in unhygienic conditions and selling bottled soybean oil at prices higher than the government-set rate.
The drive was conducted on Sunday afternoon at Adarsha Super Market in the Jamgora Chourasta area of Ashulia as part of routine market monitoring.
The operation was led by Assistant Director of the Dhaka District Consumer Rights Office, Muhammad Hasanuzzaman, with assistance from the Savar Upazila administration and Ashulia Police.
Officials said the drive resulted in fines totaling Tk 35,000 against three establishments, along with warnings to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.
Makka-Madina Enterprise at Adarsha Super Market was fined Tk 10,000, while Messrs Maayer Doa Baniyajaloy was fined Tk 5,000 for selling essential goods at excessive prices.
Another business owner was fined Tk 20,000 for preparing food in unhygienic conditions and operating without a trade license.
Hasanuzzaman said the action was taken based on specific complaints and that regular monitoring drives will continue in the interest of public health and consumer rights.
