    DNCRP fines Tk 2.5 lakh in Khulna

    The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has imposed fines totaling Tk 2,50,000 on 17 businesses across Khulna following separate monitoring operations conducted by 11 teams from the Khulna divisional office and various district offices.

    The inspections, carried out on Tuesday, focused on essential commodities including rice, edible oil, gas, medicines, diagnostic services, potatoes, local onions, vegetables, chicken, and eggs. Officials verified market prices and purchase vouchers, instructing all traders to sell goods at government-fixed rates.

    During a raid led by DNCRP Deputy Director Mohammad Selim in South Central Road, Khulna City, one business was fined Tk 10,000 for failing to supply goods properly.

    Another operation, led by Assistant Director Pronab Kumar Pramanik in the same area, penalized three businesses for packaging and expiry violations: Rose Cosmetics and Royal Charm were fined Tk 2,000 each for improper packaging, while VP Drugs was fined Tk 3,000 for storing and selling expired medicines, totaling Tk 7,000.

    Other monitoring operations were conducted across multiple districts, including:

    Magura: Shakhila Bazar (Assistant Director Mohammad Sajol Ahmed)

    Jessore: Nawapara Bazar, Abhoynagar (Assistant Director Mohammad Selimuzzaman)

    Khulna: Khalishpur and Daulatpur (Assistant Director Walid bin Habib)

    Satkhira: Jhaudanga Bazar, Sadar (Assistant Director Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Tanvir)

    Jhenaidah: Hospital Road, Maheshpur (Assistant Director Nishat Meher)

    Narail: Mahajan and Lutia Bazar, Lohagara & Kalia (Assistant Director Shamim Hasan)

    Chuadanga: Alamdanga Bazar (Assistant Director Mohammad Mamunul Hasan)

    Kushtia: Alauddin Nagar Bazar, Kumarkhali (Assistant Director Mohammad Masum Ali)

    Bagerhat: Chandmoni Bazar, Sadar (Assistant Director Sharifa Sultana)

    During the operations, traders were advised to display price lists prominently, maintain purchase and sales vouchers, and ensure the sale of products at fixed prices. DNCRP emphasized that such consumer protection operations will continue in the public interest.
