Nayapaltan witnessed a massive gathering of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders and activists on Saturday as the party organised a colourful procession marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

Party supporters arrived in groups from different parts of Dhaka as well as various districts across the country, turning the area into a sea of people, banners and festoons.

Activists from the BNP and its affiliated and associate organisations, including the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal and Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, joined the procession.

From early Saturday morning, small processions carrying party flags, banners and festoons continued arriving at the gathering point from different districts and metropolitan areas.

As the hours passed, the crowd grew, spreading beyond the road in front of the BNP’s central office into surrounding areas.

Among the major attractions of the procession were five horse-drawn carriages and an elephant, brought by Sheikh Farid Hossain, president of Dhaka North unit of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal.

The unusual display drew considerable attention from onlookers and added a distinctive spectacle to the colourful procession.

The gathering was marked by party slogans, colourful banners and festoons, creating a festive atmosphere across the Nayapaltan area.
