Kavem Hodge struck an unbeaten 140 as West Indies reached 345 for three at stumps on the fourth day of the Sylhet Test on Sunday (November 8), extending their lead to 315 runs and putting Bangladesh under pressure ahead of the final day.

Resuming at seven without loss, the visitors added 338 runs, losing only three wickets. Hodge brought up his third Test century off 142 balls, while debutant Kevin Wickham scored 78 to strengthen West Indies’ position.

Hodge remained unbeaten on 140 off 189 deliveries, with Amir Jangoo on 20 at the close. Wickham, who scored 61 in the first innings, became the first West Indies batter since Sewdath Shivnarine in 1978 to score half-centuries in both innings on his Test debut.

Earlier, Brandon King made 61 and Joshua Da Silva scored 36 before Taijul Islam broke the opening stand. Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed King, while Taijul later removed Wickham to finish the day with two wickets. Bangladesh managed only three breakthroughs throughout the day.

Bangladesh now face a daunting challenge on the final day. They have never chased down more than 215 runs to win a Test match.
