Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain made a sensational impact in his debut Big Bash League (BBL) season, earning Hobart Hurricanes’ Player of the Year award for the 2025 “26 campaign.
Cricket Tasmania confirmed the accolade on Wednesday via the team’s official social media channels.

In his first season for Hobart, Rishad took 15 wickets, finishing as the team’s leading wicket-taker with a bowling average of 20.86 and an economy rate of 7.82.

His standout performance came against Adelaide Strikers, where he claimed 3 wickets for just 26 runs, showcasing his ability to deliver in crucial moments.

Rishad faced stiff competition for the award from notable stars including Nathan Ellis, Nikhil Choudhury and Chris Jordan.

Ellis captured 14 wickets, Choudhury scored over 300 runs and Jordan delivered key spells with the ball.

However, Rishad’s consistency and match-winning impact set him apart, earning him the top honour.

In the women’s category, Danny White Hodge of Hobart claimed the award after scoring 432 runs last season and playing a pivotal role in guiding her team to their maiden championship.

Cricket Tasmania annually recognizes outstanding performers across various categories, celebrating their contributions to the game.
