A few hours after being arrested in an attempted murder case filed by his ex-wife Ria Monir, Ashraful Alam, also known as Hero Alam, was granted bail on Saturday (15 November).
The bail was approved in the afternoon by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rakibul Hasan. Earlier in the day, Hero Alam was taken into custody by Hatirjheel Police Station over allegations of attempted murder, assault, and intimidation.
The case against him was filed on Wednesday (12 November), and a warrant for his arrest had been issued by Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman. Hero Alam was arrested as a warrant-listed accused and later presented in court, where the magistrate granted him bail.
According to the police case statement, the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. Hero Alam reportedly forced Ria Monir out of their home and later summoned her to a house near Hatirjheel for reconciliation. At the location, Hero Alam, along with 10 to 12 unidentified accomplices, allegedly assaulted Ria Monir with the intent to kill and snatched her gold necklace, leaving her injured.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
