Dhaka police have issued arrest warrants against model and actress Mehjabin Chowdhury and her brother, Alisan Chowdhury, in connection with a case of alleged embezzlement, threats, and intimidation. According to the court, the duo allegedly misappropriated BDT 2.7 million under the pretext of including the complainant as a partner in their family business.

Court sources said the accused were scheduled to appear in court on Sunday (November 16). However, they failed to appear, prompting Executive Magistrate Court-3 judge Afroza Tania to issue the arrest warrants on November 10. A report on the execution of the arrest has been scheduled for submission on December 18.

According to the case, the complainant had known Mehjabin for a long time. Exploiting this familiarity, Mehjabin promised to make the complainant a partner in her new family business. In return, the complainant paid a total of BDT 7.3 million in cash and via mobile payment over multiple dates. However, Mehjabin and her brother allegedly delayed starting the business and repeatedly postponed repayment, giving excuses whenever the complainant demanded the money.

On February 11, when the complainant asked for the repayment, they were asked to meet on March 16 at a restaurant near Hatirjheel Road. At the meeting, Mehjabin, her brother, and four or five unidentified individuals verbally abused the complainant and threatened them with serious harm, warning that they should never demand the money at their home.

The complainant, Amirul Islam, subsequently filed the case under Sections 107/117(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure at the Executive Magistrate Court in Dhaka, following advice from the local Vatara police station.
