Duronto XI coach Hannan Sarkar on Wednesday shared his belief that championship success depends on collective belief rather than individual confidence, as his side targets silverware in the Odommo Bangladesh T20 Cup.

Asked about the possibility of winning a rare treble across domestic competitions, Hannan stressed that confidence must exist throughout the entire unit.

“Confidence will not work if it is only mine,” the coach said. “A team has confidence only when even the team boy believes they can become champions. When I spoke with the players, they assured me that belief is there.”

The former national player pointed out that Duronto XI’s squad is rich in winning experience, with players having tasted success at various levels.

“Every player in this team has experienced championship success—whether it’s the World Cup, Dhaka Premier League or Under-19 Asia Cup,” he said. “That satisfaction makes them hungry to win again.”

The former opener also added that his primary responsibility is to create a championship environment.

“As a coach, my job is to ensure they get the environment to become champions,” he explained. “Planning will be there, but execution on the day is the most important thing in T20 cricket.”

On the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s expectations, the coach said the tournament is being viewed as a competitive platform rather than a formality.

“On paper, people are calling us the number three team. But results don’t happen on paper—they happen on the field,” he said. “If a so-called underdog can become number one, that’s real competition.”

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and said his players are ready to meet the challenge.

“We are ready to take that challenge. The rest will be shown by our players, Inshallah.”
