Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim has praised opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim for his impressive batting under pressure while also assuring that Soumya Sarkar remains an integral part of the national setup.
Speaking to T Sports, Fahim highlighted Tamim’s consistent performances in domestic tournaments.“Recently, we played the Bangladesh Cricket League and our domestic fifty-over tournament was very competitive. Tamim showed there as well that he played a few innings and scored a century,” he noted.
“By seeing that, the selectors and team management gained confidence from him—that yes, he will be able to deliver. He was kept in the team based on that.”
Fahim also clarified the status of Soumya in the squad.
“The fact that Soumya did not play in this series does not mean he has been dropped. He is definitely with the team and will play whenever necessary,” he stated.
He added that the board aims to build a positive environment, encouraging players to perform without the fear of being dropped after one or two low-scores.
“We are trying to ensure such thoughts do not exist so that players can play with confidence,” Fahim explained.
