A Dhaka court on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, revoked its earlier order permitting the exhumation of the remains of iconic Bangladeshi film actor Salman Shah, nearly 30 years after his death, following a petition filed by the complainant in the widely discussed investigation into the alleged murder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Jewel Rana passed the order after hearing an application submitted by the complainant’s side seeking the withdrawal of the previous directive.
The decision was confirmed by the complainant’s counsel, Advocate Abid Hasan.
The complainant, Mohammad Alamgir Kumkum, the maternal uncle of Salman Shah, argued that the earlier order allowing the exhumation should be cancelled. After considering the petition, the court accepted the plea and revoked its previous order.
Earlier, on May 20,2026, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Inspector Ziaul Morshed, the investigating officer in the case, sought the court’s permission to exhume the actor’s remains for a fresh forensics examination.
