    Mobile court fines Tk 40,000 in Kaliganj

    A mobile court in Gazipur’s Kaliganj upazila has fined four individuals a total of Tk 40,000 for violating the Saw Mill (License) Regulations–2012.

    The raid was conducted on Tuesday (December 9) afternoon at Aorakhali Bazar in Jangalia Union and led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Jakia Sarwar Lima.

    The fined individuals are:
    Russel Khan, 37, son of Abdus Salam Khan of Kaulita village;

    Kaiyum Khan, 60, son of Yusuf Khan of the same village;

    Mamun Khan, 28, son of Nur Uddin Khan of Adi Jangalia village;

    Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan, 50, son of Reyaz Uddin Bhuiyan.

    The executive magistrate said the cases and penalties were imposed under Section 12 of the Saw Mill (License) Regulations–2012.

    “No saw mill will be permitted to operate outside the legal framework. Drives against violators will continue,” she added.

    Upazila officer Touhidul Islam, bench assistant Mahbubul Islam, police personnel, and members of the Ansar force were also present during the operation.
