Police have arrested Abul Kalam Azad, a prominent leader of the Ganojagoron Mancha and a student activist, from Bhaluka in Mymensingh.
According to police sources, he was detained on Thursday (October 30) afternoon from the Bhaluka municipality area.
Abul Kalam Azad was an active participant in the 2013 Ganojagoron Mancha movement against war crimes. As a vice president of the central committee of the Bangladesh Students’ Union, he played a key role in organizing the Ganojagoron Mancha and was known as one of its leading organizers.
Bhaluka Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir confirmed the arrest, saying that legal proceedings are underway against him.
