Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has emphasized that his party does not seek injustice against anyone. Speaking at a cordial gathering organized by Kafrul South Thana Jamaat-e-Islami on Tuesday evening (18 November), he expressed concern over potential election-related malpractice, warning that some might attempt to manipulate votes through money or coercion.

“Our message to those planning such acts is clear: the youth will resist, Insha’Allah,” he said. “We will not tolerate any interference with young people’s votes. They will cast their votes freely, and we will stand by them, giving them courage and strength so that no wrongdoer dares to harm them.”

Addressing young voters, he added, “Vote for the candidate you support. Whether you vote for me or not is your choice. But we will fight to protect your rights, Insha’Allah.”

Special guest Muhammad Selim Uddin, member of the Central Executive Council and Amir of Dhaka North, also attended the gathering.

Regarding the verdict in Sheikh Hasina’s case, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We believe it may bring some solace to the victims and bereaved families. The trial was transparent, broadcast live, and reflects the standards of justice. We urge the government and judiciary to take appropriate steps as required.”

He reiterated Jamaat’s commitment to justice, saying, “Every citizen has the right to fair treatment, and we do not wish injustice on anyone. If Jamaat comes to power, we will protect private property rather than confiscate it. No extortionist will dare demand money from businessmen, landlords, or traders. We will eradicate such criminal practices from society.”

Dr. Rahman warned that eliminating extortion will boost national development and reduce commodity prices. He emphasized that small and large traders alike, from wholesalers to street vendors, are currently vulnerable to extortion, and Jamaat will ensure they can conduct business safely and with dignity.

He stressed the party’s anti-corruption agenda: “Corruption is rampant at every level of society—from top to bottom. We will fight to eliminate it completely. No obstacle can stop our movement.”

Regarding the judiciary, he said, “Justice must be ensured for the innocent. Judges must be respected, and the dignity of the judiciary restored. Undue privileges or illegal benefits must not be tolerated. A judge must command respect at all times.”

On economic reform, he stated, “Our financial system is broken, and public resources have been plundered. We will strive to return wealth to the people and prevent criminals from exploiting public assets in the future.”

On foreign policy, Dr. Rahman emphasized maintaining friendly relations with all civilized nations while preserving Bangladesh’s sovereignty.

He also spoke on women’s participation in business, trade, and employment, saying, “Women will receive due respect and full security in all professional roles. Reducing working hours will allow them to focus on their responsibilities at work and home, benefiting both family and society.”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman concluded that a balanced approach to women’s work-life responsibilities strengthens the family unit, which in turn strengthens the nation.
