BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has spoken about his desire to return to Bangladesh amid concerns over the health of party chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. In a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday (29 November), he said, “Like any child, I have a deep desire to be close to my mother during this crisis. However, like others, my ability to act on this is not solely within my control or unilateral authority.”
In the post, he also expressed gratitude to well-wishers, writing, “On behalf of the Zia family, I sincerely thank everyone for their heartfelt prayers and support for the highly respected Begum Khaleda Zia. We earnestly request that all continue to pray for her swift recovery.”
He added that the sensitive matter of returning home cannot be fully explained at this stage. “Our family remains hopeful that once the political realities allow, my long-awaited return to the country will finally take place,” he said, emphasizing the ongoing concern for his mother’s health and the limitations imposed by current circumstances.
