    Travel ban imposed on former APS to Adviser Asif Mahmud

    A court has imposed a travel ban on Md Moazzem Hossain, former Assistant Private Secretary (APS) to Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government and Sports in the interim government.

    The order was issued on Monday by the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Fayez, following a petition filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Hannan of the CID submitted the petition seeking the restriction on his departure. The information was confirmed by the court’s bench assistant, Md Riaz Hossain.

    According to the petition, Moazzem Hossain is accused of amassing hundreds of crores of money through influence peddling, tender manipulation, and extortion during his tenure as APS.The petition further states that he allegedly laundered the money to various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and the United States. Allegations of money laundering against him are currently under investigation. It also noted that the accused may attempt to leave the country at any time, making it necessary to restrict his foreign travel until the inquiry is completed to ensure a proper investigation.
