Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, chairperson of the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) election management committee, on Monday said the party is committed to ensuring full transparency and accountability in its campaign financing system.
Speaking at a press conference on electoral crowdfunding at the party’s office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, Asif Mahmud said NCP aims to practice politics funded by public contributions rather than relying on large business interests or powerful groups.
He said such a funding model would keep the party directly accountable to the people. “If any evidence of irregularities is found, we are prepared to accept any form of legal scrutiny or judgment,” he added.
Asif Mahmud also said that, to ensure financial transparency, NCP would have all public donations audited annually and make the audit reports publicly available.
Reiterating his personal commitment to transparency, he said he was willing to face any legal process if allegations of financial misconduct against him or the party are substantiated.
At the press conference, he criticised what he described as a long-standing culture of opaque political practices, citing allegations of loan default against candidates from other parties, and said NCP’s goal is to help build a more accountable political system.
