The air ambulance scheduled to take former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London will not be arriving as planned. A Germany-based air ambulance was expected to land in Dhaka on Tuesday (December 9) to transport her.
Shahjalal International Airport sources confirmed the development on Monday (December 8).
According to the sources, the air ambulance had initially sought permission to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:00 AM on Tuesday. However, the operator has now requested to cancel the landing. The Civil Aviation Authority will forward the cancellation request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take necessary next steps.
Earlier, based on the operator’s preliminary application submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on Sunday, permission had been granted for the aircraft to land at 8:00 AM and depart at 9:00 PM the same day.
The Qatar government had arranged the medical evacuation flight through FAI Aviation Group after selecting a suitable long-distance air ambulance for Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad.
