The International Crimes Tribunal has scheduled November 17 (Monday) for delivering the verdict in a case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three others, accused of committing crimes against humanity in July–August.

The date was fixed on Thursday (November 13) by a three-member judicial panel of Tribunal-1, chaired by Justice Golam Mortuza Mazumder. The other members of the panel are Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired District and Sessions Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Among the accused, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal remain absconding. At the tribunal on Thursday, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, a key witness in the case who had previously been an accused, was present.

The prosecution concluded its arguments over five days, while the defense presented its case over three days, ending on October 23. On that day, Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman delivered the closing statement on behalf of the prosecution. Following this, the tribunal set November 13 for announcing the verdict date.

The prosecution has filed five charges against the accused and has requested the maximum punishment for Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, leaving the decision regarding former IGP Mamun to the tribunal.

Meanwhile, the defense lawyers have demanded acquittal for all the accused, including the key witness, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

During the announcement of the verdict date, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam, along with prosecutors Mizanul Islam, Gazi M H Tamim, B M Sultan Mahmud, Shaikh Mahdi, and Abdus Sattar Palwan, were present in the tribunal.
