Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on Tuesday took oath as prime minister for the first time and formed a government with a 49-member cabinet.
The cabinet members include 25 ministers and 24 state ministers.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office and oath of secrecy to Tarique and his new cabinet members at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon.
After the swearing-in, Tarique signed the oath documents.
Earlier, Tarique was elected parliamentary party leader in a meeting of the BNP’s parliamentary party at the meeting room in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban around 11:30am.
