Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday made a phone call to ailing Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman to inquire about his health.
The prime minister first contacted the party office to inquire after Shafiqur’s health and then expressed his wish to personally talk to the Jamaat chief over the phone, said Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar.
During the phone-call, the Jamaat chief invited Tarique and his family to an iftar party, Mia Golam Parwar told reporters, adding the prime minister has accepted the invitation.
On Tuesday, Shafiqur Rahman fell suddenly ill on his way to joining a party discussion session and Iftar mahfil arranged in Shewrapara area of the capital.
On Wednesday, his health conditions improved, allowing him to offer prayers at the graves of martyred army personnel at the Banani Graveyard.
