    Police on high alert ahead of Martyred Intellectuals Day & Victory Day

    Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has called for heightened vigilance to ensure the smooth and dignified observance of the upcoming Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14 and Victory Day on December 16. A coordination meeting was held to review law enforcement and traffic management arrangements for the national events.

    On Monday (December 8), DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar, addressing officers at the DMP Headquarters conference room, instructed all police personnel to remain highly alert. The meeting also covered detailed discussions on overall law and order and traffic management plans.

    “Everyone must remain extremely vigilant. Deployment of personnel for state programs must not be delayed, and coordination among all relevant agencies is essential. DMP will ensure necessary security measures around these two important national days,” said Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar.

    Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam emphasized, “With everyone’s cooperation, we expect both days to be observed smoothly. All personnel must perform their professional duties diligently. Special attention should be given to social media to prevent the spread of rumors or false news that could create public confusion.”

    The meeting began with a presentation by DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah, who outlined the comprehensive security plans for the observance of Martyred Intellectuals Day and Victory Day.

    Representatives from various intelligence agencies, the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Safety and Security Services Department, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Directorate General of Health Services, Dhaka North and South City Corporations, Dhaka WASA, Fire Service, and other government service agencies, along with senior DMP officials, offered valuable suggestions and feedback during the meeting.

    Also present at the meeting were Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Shafiqul Islam, PPM, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance & Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, Joint Police Commissioner (Logistics) Osman Gani, other Joint and Deputy Police Commissioners, and representatives from various agencies.
