According to the petition, the accused had allegedly been carrying out muggings at different places in Dhaka in collusion with other members of a gang. The remand is necessary to identify and arrest other unidentified suspects and recover the looted money.

According to the case statement, on 9 August, Mohammad Al Amin, assistant manager of DL Filling Station, was heading to Pubali Bank in Uttara to deposit money, accompanied by two others.

When they reached in front of Crown Plaza on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Road at around 10:30am, six to seven unidentified robbers riding three motorcycles intercepted the vehicle and snatched a bag containing Tk1.21 crore at gunpoint.

They also allegedly hacked Al Amin with a machete, leaving him injured. DL Filling Station Manager Md Abdul Karim later filed the case with Airport Police Station.
