The family of BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia is preparing to take her to London for advanced medical treatment once her health shows slight improvement, according to Mahdi Amin, adviser to BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

He disclosed the information on Saturday (29 November) in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page.

Mahdi Amin wrote that although Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, her care is being overseen by a combined team of local and foreign specialists. “Tarique Rahman, his wife, and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician Dr Zubaida Rahman are maintaining constant communication with the medical team from London, providing necessary guidance,” he said.

He added that Dr Zubaida Rahman, a key member of the medical board, is coordinating with specialists at home and abroad to ensure smooth management of Khaleda Zia’s treatment. “Tarique Rahman is closely monitoring every step to prevent any delay or limitation in her medical care,” he noted.

According to Mahdi Amin, a large number of BNP leaders and activists gather at the hospital every day to inquire about Khaleda Zia’s condition. However, due to infection risks, no one is allowed to enter the CCU. “People are expressing their love and concern from a distance,” he said.

He further stated that preparations are underway to transfer Khaleda Zia to London once her condition stabilises. Contact has already been made with the hospital and medical team in London where she previously received four months of treatment earlier this year and showed significant improvement. Arrangements for a fully equipped air ambulance are also in progress, he added.

Concluding his statement, Mahdi Amin expressed hope that the prayers and support of the nation would help Khaleda Zia recover quickly. “After receiving advanced treatment, she will once again inspire the nation, provide leadership, and play a key role in uniting the people,” he said.
