Gold prices have been reduced by Tk 7,640 per bhori following a fresh revision announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Friday.
Under the new rates, 22-carat gold will now sell at Tk 254,450 per bhori, effective immediately.
The price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 242,903 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 208,202 per bhori.Gold made using the traditional method has been priced at Tk 170,411 per bhori.
BAJUS said the decision was taken due to a fall in the local price of pure (tejabi) gold. Buyers will also have to pay a 5 percent government VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge, which may vary depending on design and quality.
Silver prices were also reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has been lowered by Tk 175 per bhori to Tk 6,357, while revised rates for 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver stand at Tk 6,065, Tk 5,190 and Tk 3,907 per bhori respectively.
