Police have recovered the bodies of a couple and their two minor children from a house in Mirpur 11’s Wapda Bihari Camp in the capital.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Masum, 35; his wife Fatema Akhtar Sumi, 30; and their sons Minhaz, 4, and Asad, 2.
AKM Alamgir Jahan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pallabi Police Station, said the bodies were recovered at around 1pm on Thursday.
“Police and the CID Crime Scene Unit are present at the spot. Legal formalities are being completed, and preparations are underway to send the bodies to a hospital morgue for autopsy,” the OC said.
Quoting neighbours, police said the family had been facing financial hardship and had fallen into debt. They suspect that the couple may have killed their children and died by suicide out of despair.
