Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday thanked the National Citizen Party (NCP) for signing the July National Charter, saying the party fulfilled the people’s expectations.
He said the NCP’s endorsement reflected its commitment to the nation’s democratic aspirations and the broader public interest.NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain signed the charter at the state guest house Jamuna Monday evening in the presence of Chief Adviser Yunus.
“With the NCP’s signature, the July National Charter is now complete. I thank the NCP for participating in this important initiative,” Yunus said, adding that the nation expected the party to sign the document, and it has now done so.
Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Ali Riaz, Commission Member Badiul Alam Majumdar, and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider attended the event.
Yunus emphasized that citizens must remain vigilant to ensure the charter helps build a humane and inclusive “New Bangladesh.” He also mentioned that members of the new parliament would take their oath the following day and expressed hope for a successful journey ahead.
Nahid said lawmakers elected from his party would take the oath the next day. “We will take two oaths simultaneously. The people of this country have placed their trust in us, and we will honor that trust.”
Although the NCP signed the charter last, Nahid stressed that the party had actively engaged in efforts to implement it.
Other members of the NCP delegation included Monira Sharmin, Sarwar Tushar, Javed Rasin, and Zahirul Islam.
