The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has dismissed as “fake and motivated” reports circulating on social media claiming that its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi instructed people not to use lights and fans unnecessarily after evening.
In a press release issued on Saturday night, the party said Rizvi had made no such statement and described the circulated information as “completely fabricated and baseless.”
The statement, signed by BNP Deputy Office Secretary Md Munir, said a “malicious group” is spreading the false claim across various online platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.
It also refuted claims that Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal leaders and activists would be tasked with enforcing such restrictions, calling them entirely unfounded.
The BNP urged the public, as well as its leaders and activists, not to be misled by such misinformation and to remain cautious.
