Former inspector general of police (IGP) and Rab chief Benazir Ahmed is facing around 10 cases at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam said today.Three warrants related to Benazir have been sent to the government and will be forwarded to Interpol through the National Central Bureau (NCB), the chief prosecutor said.He was addressing a press briefing at his office following the arrest of Benazir, who was one of the most powerful law enforcement figures under the ousted Awami League government.
At today’s briefing, Chief Prosecutor Aminul said proceedings in one case against him are already underway, while the investigation into a case over the 2013 Shapla Chattar crackdown is nearing completion.
