Activists from Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islami Chhatra Shibir clashed twice with brickbats and sticks at the Chattogram Government City College on Tuesday.
The first bout of clash around 12pm left at least nine injured. Both sides blamed the other for starting the clash. On Monday night, Abdullah Al Mamun, joint convener at JCD’s college unit, allegedly distorted and altered an inscription against student politics painted below graffiti on campus, with a message shunning “covert politics.”
JCD and some other political groups frequently allege Chhatra Shibir of conducting “covert political activities” across the country, angering the Shibir members.
