The government has appointed full-time administrators to five more city corporations across the country.
The Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives issued a gazette notification in this regard on Saturday.According to the notification signed by Deputy Secretary Md Robiul Islam by order of the President, the officials will serve as administrators of the respective city corporations until further orders under Section 25A of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024.The appointed administrators are Advocate Bilquis Akter Jahan Shirin for Barishal City Corporation, Md Mahfuzur Rahman for Rajshahi City Corporation, Md Ruknuzzaman Rokon for Mymensingh City Corporation, Mahfuz Un Nabi Chowdhury for Rangpur City Corporation and Md Yusuf Molla for Cumilla City Corporation.
The notification also said the administrators will exercise the powers and perform the responsibilities of the mayor of the respective city corporations in accordance with Sub-section (3) of Section 25A of the amended ordinance and will be entitled to allowances as per the rules.
