The United States Embassy in Dhaka has issued a new advisory regarding travel to the United States, warning that misuse of benefits funded by American taxpayers could affect future eligibility to travel, study or work in the country.

The message was shared on Saturday through the embassy’s verified Facebook page.In the advisory, the embassy urged prospective travellers to ensure they have sufficient financial resources to cover their expenses while visiting the United States. This includes the ability to meet unexpected costs, such as disruptions to travel plans or medical emergencies.“While planning your trip to the United States, make sure you have adequate financial capacity to bear your own expenses, including any unforeseen costs that may arise during travel or in case of medical emergencies,” the message said.

The embassy also cautioned that abusing benefits financed by US taxpayers could have serious and lasting consequences.

“Misuse of benefits funded by US taxpayers may lead to permanent consequences, potentially making you ineligible to travel to, study in or work in the United States in the future,” the advisory added.
