Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that Jamaat ministers did not engage in corruption while the four-party alliance was in power, nor did they resign from their ministerial posts to protect their ministries.

While addressing a public rally in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Thursday, he claimed that they were not involved in any form of corruption.

”The situation of Bangladesh would change from the 13th and that the hands of 90 per cent of extortionists would be rendered powerless.”

Alongside law enforcement agencies, the party leaders and activists would also remain active in the field to stop extortion.

Referring to the Sherpur incident, Jamaat Ameer said that if attempts are made to forcefully manipulate elections in their favor, the youth will resist.

Commenting that the previous government had ‘killed nature,’ he said, ”The citizens of this country, especially those who were responsible for running the country, have killed nature. We have plundered nature and oppressed it. That is why, due to the changes in our climate, we will have to pay the price slowly and painfully.”
