The Rajya Sabha of India has decided to hold ‘obituary references’ to pay tributes to several distinguished personalities, including former Bangladesh Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to the official List of Business of the Upper House of India, the obituary references will be taken up half an hour after the conclusion of the President’s Address to a joint sitting of Parliament.
This motion will be presented in both houses of India’s Parliament — the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) and the Lok Sabha (Lower House) from Wednesday.
Besides Khaleda Zia, the House will also pay homage to former Rajya Sabha members Shri L. Ganesan and Shri Suresh Kalmadi.
The List of Business was issued by Rajya Sabha Secretary-General P. C. Mody on Tuesday (January 27).
