BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday appealed to the nation to pray for his mother, former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
He made the appeal while addressing mourners at her janaza at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
In a brief speech, Tarique Rahman introduced himself as Khaleda Zia’s eldest son and said that if she had taken any loans from anyone during her lifetime, he would ensure their repayment.
“If the late Begum Khaleda Zia owed anyone any money, I request them to contact me. I will make arrangements to repay it, Inshallah,” he said.
He also sought forgiveness on her behalf, saying that if anyone had been hurt by her words or actions during her lifetime, he apologised to them.
“Please pray that Allah grants her eternal peace in heaven,” Tarique Rahman added.
