Police blocked the ‘March to Indian High Commission’ organized by July Unity on Wednesday, disrupting traffic along Pragati Sarani.
The long march began at 3:30 pm from Rampura Bridge, but police stopped the procession around 4:00 pm in front of Hossain Market in Badda by setting up barricades. Due to the police blockade and the presence of marchers on the road, traffic on Pragati Sarani was completely halted from 3:00 pm.
Unable to proceed, the leaders and activists of July Unity staged a sit-in on Pragati Sarani, raising slogans against India’s alleged aggression. They also demanded the return of Sheikh Hasina to face trial for the July killings.
In addition, the demonstrators called for the arrest of those involved in the shooting of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
