In the 2026 elections of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), Abu Saleh Akn was re-elected as president, while Mainul Hasan Sohel retained his position as general secretary. Both had also held the same positions in the previous 2025 committee.
The results were announced on Sunday (30 November) at the DRU premises by Election Commission Chairman M.A. Aziz. Out of 1,755 registered voters, 1,444 cast their votes.
In the other key positions, Mehdi Azad Masum was elected co-president, and Md. Jafar Iqbal was elected joint secretary unopposed.

Treasurer: Niyaz Mahmud Sohel
Organising Secretary: M.M. Jasim
Office Secretary: Md. Rashim (Rashim Molla) – unopposed
Women Affairs Secretary: Jannatul Ferdous Panna
Publicity & Publication Secretary: Mizan Chowdhury – unopposed
IT & Training Secretary: Mahmud Sohel
Sports Secretary: Omar Faruk Rubel
Cultural Secretary: Md. Monwar Hossain – unopposed
Hospitality Secretary: Aminul Haque Bhuiya
Welfare Secretary: Rafiq Mridha – unopposed
Additionally, seven executive members were elected: Md. Aktar Hossain, Ali Azam, Mahfuz Sadi (Md. Mahfuzur Rahman), Al-Amin Azad, Mohammad Naimuddin, and Suman Chowdhury. Election Commission Chairman M.A. Aziz said that Md. Abdul Alim and Md. Mazaharul Islam, who received the same number of votes, would have their positions decided by the new executive committee.
Voting began at 9:00 am and concluded at 5:00 pm.
