    Dengue claims 5 lives, 1,139 patients hospitalized

    At least five people have died from dengue in the past 24 hours across Bangladesh, while 1,139 new patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period, according to the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The figures cover Saturday 8:00 am to Sunday 8:00 am (November 15–16).

    The regional breakdown of new hospitalizations includes Barishal Division with 181 cases, Chattogram Division 141, Dhaka Division (outside city corporations) 246, Dhaka North City Corporation 182, Dhaka South City Corporation 118, Khulna Division (outside city corporation) 119, Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation) 96, Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation) 46, Rangpur Division (outside city corporation) 9, and Sylhet Division (outside city corporation) 1.

    During the same period, 1,199 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 81,442.

    Since January 2025, a total of 84,997 patients have been hospitalized due to dengue, and 336 people have died from the disease so far this year.

    For context, in 2024, 101,214 patients were hospitalized due to dengue, and 575 people lost their lives to the disease. In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, with a total of 321,179 hospitalizations recorded throughout the year.
