Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar has alleged that Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus ignored public demands and directives by scheduling the national parliamentary election and the referendum on the same day, saying this fails to reflect the true aspirations of the people.

Speaking on Thursday (November 13) at Jamaat’s central office, Parwar said, “Holding both the election and the referendum on the same day will create a crisis. Every election experiences disorder; if there are problems at polling centers, one can imagine the complications it will cause for the referendum.”

He added, “We have been demanding and campaigning for a resolution to this crisis for a long time, but the issues persist. Our like-minded political allies will also observe the situation and respond accordingly.”

Parwar further mentioned that the party’s executive council will meet after sunset, with legal experts present, and detailed statements will follow.

He also noted, “Discussions on reforms have been ongoing for nine long months. We were eagerly awaiting the adviser to consider public opinion—but that did not happen.”
