In response to recent incidents of arson and cocktail bomb explosions on roads across Dhaka and other parts of the country, the Railway Ministry has issued urgent instructions to strengthen security along railway lines.
On Wednesday, the ministry sent letters to various railway departments directing heightened vigilance. The letters were signed by Fatema Tuz-Zohra, Senior Assistant Secretary (additional charge) of the Railway Ministry.
The directives emphasize ensuring passenger safety and preventing untoward incidents by strictly enforcing security measures at railway stations and on trains.
The letter also highlights that, in light of recent fire-related incidents, extra caution must be exercised across all railway infrastructure—including tracks, bridges, stations, and trains—to prevent any acts of sabotage or destructive activities by miscreants. Until further instructions, all relevant personnel, including the Railway Security Force and Railway Police, have been asked to maintain heightened alertness and enforce strict security measures.
