Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus will address the nation tomorrow, Thursday.
According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, the address will be delivered at noon and broadcast live on Bangladesh Television (BTV), BTV News, and BTV World.
It is widely expected that Dr Yunus will make an important announcement regarding the implementation of the July National Charter or proposed reforms.
The address comes amid heightened political tension over the upcoming election, the legal status of the July Charter, and the issue of a national referendum — with major political parties, including the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, taking opposing positions.
While Jamaat and seven other parties continue their movement demanding a five-point reform agenda, BNP and its allies have also taken to the streets, opposing the government’s move to hold the election and the referendum on the same day, as well as the inclusion of a “note of dissent” in the July Charter.
Meanwhile, the ruling Awami League’s planned “Dhaka Lockdown” programme on November 13 has further intensified the political atmosphere.
Against this backdrop, Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is set to address the nation on Thursday.
