The bail granted by the High Court to former Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in five cases has been suspended by the Chamber Court. She faces charges in five cases, including the murder of garment worker Minarul and other cases related to the anti-discrimination movement. The hearings for these cases in the Appellate Division are scheduled for November 17.

The application was filed on Wednesday (November 12) at the Chamber Judge Court branch of the Appellate Division. Senior lawyer Sara Hossain represented Ivy during the hearing, accompanied by lawyer SM Hridoy Rahman and others.

Earlier, the High Court had granted bail to Ivy in all five cases. Subsequently, a High Court bench comprising Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice Sagir Hossain issued a ruling upholding the rule regarding Ivy’s bail.

Ivy was initially arrested on May 9 from her residence in Chunkakuti, Deobhog area of Narayanganj. At that time, she appeared in court in a murder case, and the court ordered her to be sent to jail.

Later, on May 27, after a two-day remand in the Minarul murder case, the court again ordered her imprisonment.

She has been shown arrested in multiple cases, including three murder and two attempted murder cases, all linked to the anti-discrimination student and public movement.
