The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) slashed gold prices by Tk 3,266 per bhori within a single day, citing a drop in the price of pure gold in the local market.

BAJUS announced the decision through a press release on Friday morning, bringing the new tariff into effect at 10:00 am on 7 August.

Under the revised pricing structure, consumers will pay Tk2,29,664 including value-added tax (VAT) for a 22-carat bhori (11.664 grams) of gold.

According to the new rate chart, 21-carat gold will cost Tk2,19,342 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will sell for Tk 1,88,374 per bhori, including VAT. Meanwhile, traditional-method gold will trade at Tk 1,53,148 per bhori.

BAJUS said that a decline in the value of refined pure gold in the domestic market prompted the price adjustment to align with current market conditions.
