The Bangladesh Poultry Industries Association (BPIA) on Saturday urged the government to introduce sweeping policy reforms to protect poultry farmers, warning that prolonged financial losses and weak market regulation are forcing thousands of small producers out of business and threatening the country’s long-term food security.
At a press conference held at the National Press Club in Dhaka, BPIA leaders called for a guaranteed profitable farmgate price for eggs, the immediate introduction of a nationwide digital database for poultry farmers, low-interest financing, poultry insurance and the establishment of a permanent national coordination body for the industry.
